Water: Tilverton sits in the vale of Tilver’s Gap between the Stormhorns, Thunderpeaks, and Desertsmouth Mountains on the edge of the near barren region of the Stonelands, which in turn abuts the great Desert of Anauroch. There are no rivers or streams in this dusty vale, and yet a settlement some 6,000 strong has grown up in the valley, drawing from the wells that survive here from an older elven settlement.
The wells pump water from a subterranean lake just north of Tilverton (its sewers drain into a cavern to the south-west). The caverns beneath Tilverton all interconnect, and are filled with a variety of fungi, moulds, lichens, and myconids.
