Mulho-Untheric Pantheon

The Mulho-Untheric Pantheon is a geo-political-religious entity that primarily encompasses the regions of Mulhorand and Unther with some worship in Chessenta and Thay.

Historically the Mulhorandi and Untheric pantheons have been very separate entities, with little or no overlap between them, however, recent events have seen the worship of the Mulhorandi gods spread into Unther and Chessenta. The future may see the Untheric pantheon disappear entirely into its more vigorous neighbour, and both pantheons may be swallowed by the even larger and younger Faerunian pantheon.

The Akanic Gods

This now extinct pantheon was made up of a number of deities that later merged with the Untheric Pantheon in the centuries following the Orcgate Wars. This pantheon was active in the region that is now referred to as Chessenta and was worshipped by the Mulan humans that lived their.

Like the other Mulan pantheons. the gods here were all Demi-Gods (because of the Imaskari Planar Barrier) and lived as material beings among their worshippers. The Orcgate Wars devastated the population of the pantheon and people of Akanu. As a result the Untheric and Akanic pantheons merged to increase their chances of survival against future threats.

E-Anu

The head of the Akanic pantheon. and the being for which Akanu and it’s pantheon was named. E-Anu was the Akanic god of the Sky and the nation and people of Akanu. he died of poisoning in -987 DR attributed to a snake bite while crossing the Adder River.

He was a spiteful, conniving, and prying being who was always delving into the lives of other godkings and powerful individuals to learn their secrets which he hoarded to use against them later. Kal-Zarein was secretly a powerful spellcaster who it is rumoured studied under TiaMa’at for a time. Known as the Dark Wonder, Kal-Zarein fled south when Gil-Geamesq ascended to the throne of Akanu, he has not been seen since.

The Akanic god of the Sun and Travel. Slain during the Orcgate Wars.

The Untheric Gods

When Unther was founded, the heroes of the Battle of the Whirling Sands were divided in opinion over the location of its capital. Roughly half the pantheon remained with Enlil and founded the city of Unthalass,  while the rest followed Anu and continued west to found the city of Adanu (in what is now the Adder Swamp).

The Empires of Unther and Akanu existed peacefully (for the most part) side by side for millennia until the Orcgate Wars. Following the decimation of the Untheric and Akanic pantheons, the two groups of deities merged into a single Untheric pantheon with Gilgeam as its head.

The Untheric Gods are unique across all of Toril for the fact that they remained on the Material Plane amongst their worshippers; some helping their people, others living in luxury as the people slaved away to their every whim. Originally all the Mulan gods were kept in material form (making them Demi-Gods) by an immensely powerful artefact known as the Imaskari Planar Barrier which covered all the lands of Imaskar with a blanket that prevented all planar movements except for those keyed to the artefact. When this barrier effect was refocused the Mulhorandi gods departed their material form and became True-Gods, but Gil-Geamesq demanded all the gods of Unther remain in material form or have their worship outlawed in Unther.

E-Nlil

E-Nlil was the head of the Untheric pantheon and the god of Law,  Unther,  and the Sky. He vanished from Unther in -734 DR during the merger of the Akanic and Untheric Pantheons,  relinquishing his duties to Gil-Geamesq.

It was occasionally rumoured that she experimented upon the populace, deliberately infecting them with disease, Gil-Geamesq outlawed her worship early in his accession to the throne of Unther.

A formerly powerful goddess in Unther due to that nation’s strong association with powerful magic, her decline began after the rebellion of the Order of the Black Flame and then the Wizards’ Reach. Nin-Lliaruk was however far too magically powerful for Gil-Geamesq to remove and it wasn’t until 1152 DR that she finally abandoned her heavily entrapped tower in Unthalass and fled west. Nin-Lliaruk looked like a fairly typical Mulan female, her only distinguishing feature was the constant and fiercely glowing red eyes she possessed.
